About Department

Along with various Subjects in M.S. Gote College, Public Administration stands a very important subject in the field of social sciences at U.G. level. The college established the subject in 2000-2001 but the department started from 2004-2005. The college filled the faculty V.A. Gaikwad in Public Administration on CHB from 2006-07 to 2007-08. Then after in 2008-09 V.A. Gaikwad was selected as full time faculty & joined as Asst. Prof in Public Administration department. This is the first college to introduce Public Administration subject in Sant Gadge Baba Amravati University. From 21st August 2008 Dr.Vilas Aba Gaikwad was appointed as full time professor for this subject.

In 2021- 22 Sant Gadge Baba Amravati University recognized Ph.D. Research Centre of Public Administration has been started in this college. It is also one of the only Public Administration Ph.D. Research Centre in Sant Gadge Baba Amravati University. Dr. Vilas Gaikwad is the only research Guide/Supervisor of Sant Gadge Baba Amravati University in this research centre. Today, a total number of four students have been admitted as Research Scholars in this research centre for Ph.D.

Dr. Vilas Gaikwad has also organized various programs by visiting many administrative offices to promote and spread the subject of public administration to the students. Through this department, a national level seminar sponsored by UGC has been successfully organized in the session 2012-13.

The students should get acquired with structure of Administrative systems, procedures of Administration, Administrative principle, leadership quality, motivation, local self government, state government & central govt. At college level only the student gets acquired with Administrative knowledge of government. The subject will also help the students preparing for the competitive exams. The department organized various programmes from 2008-09. The progremmes like visit to District. Collector office Washim, Seminars, Elocution, Group discussions, wall paper presentation, poster exhibition.

Till date the students of this subject at degree level have been placed in different administrative services. As many students as 100 students are admitted in this subject at degree level in session 2022-23. Recently Public Administration Department has successfully organized the National Conference sponsored by ICSSR, New Delhi on 23rd April 2022. In the session 2022-23, on the occasion of the Amrit Jubilee year of Indian Independence, the Department of Public Administration organized Jagar Constitution lecture series from 26 November 2022 to 26 January 2023. Through these lecture series, one of the 22 parts of the Indian Constitution has been highlighted through the lectures by special experts on every Saturday and Sunday. It is intended to visit the Legislature session in future. hence it can be said that through the study of public administration, students get useful information about the government and administrative system. Along with the law-making process and its implementation at the central and state levels, they also get information about the process of making government policies and plans and their implementation. It is obtained from the study of the subject. So this subject is very useful for students.
